Passengers with disabilities

Red Wings takes care of disabled passengers at the airport and during the flight to ensure their comfort and safety. Employees will provide wheelchairs if required, offer assistance in getting to the cabin and during pre-flight procedures.

Booking and purchasing your ticket

You can purchase your ticket by any convenient means: online, from our Contact Centre or from our ticketing agents. Once you have purchased your ticket, please contact the information desk at your airport of departure and let them know that you require assistance.

Please explain your needs to the help desk operator: whether you are carrying a wheelchair as luggage and what type of wheelchair; whether you need assistance with getting around the airport; whether you will be accompanied by a guide dog; and whether you will be using an oxygen tank.

Airline and airport staff will not be able to help with medical procedures, feeding and grooming, carrying passengers on hand and supervising a guide dog. All this is done by the passenger him/herself or with the help of a companion.

You can order an escort service through the Contact Centre or at the Airport Information Service. The telephone numbers of the Contact Centre are:

+7 (495) 212-12-51 — for Moscow,
8 800 350-99-77 — toll-free within Russia.

If you use a wheelchair

If you use a wheelchair without electric propulsion you will be able to use it until boarding the aircraft. An electric wheelchair must be checked in as luggage when you check in. The airport will then provide you with a wheelchair to help you get to your flight.

Passengers using electric wheelchairs must have a battery pack for the wheelchair and a set of keys to disconnect the battery terminals. This is a requirement of the instructions for the safe transport of dangerous cargos by air.

The passenger disconnects and connects the battery terminals himself or is assisted by an airport service provider. The passenger must inform the airport staff in advance in order to receive such assistance.

Passengers in wheelchairs will be issued wheelchairs at the exit of the aircraft or at the luggage claim area, where the passenger will be taken to the airport by wheelchair.

Wheelchairs and other assistance devices are checked in as luggage free of charge and carried in the luggage compartment.

Passengers with disabilities are provided with seats in the cabin, which comply with safety requirements — not at the evacuation exits.

Flight of passengers on a stretcher

Red Wings Airlines accepts passengers on a stretcher for the flight. Extra seats are provided for such passengers. Conditions for the flight:

  • Passengers on a stretcher have an escort
  • Each occupied seat is charged at Economy class fare
  • The flight must be coordinated with the airline 72 hours before departure
  • Tickets can only be issued after the airline has confirmed the possibility of the flight for the passenger on a stretcher

Flight of passengers with visual and hearing impairments

Special rules apply to passengers with such disabilities:

  • Passengers who are blind or deaf may fly with or without an escort, depending on their own assistance needs; a blind passenger may fly with a guide dog, provided that the passenger must present documents which confirm the disability and the special training of the dog
  • A guide dog must wear a muzzle, a collar and a leash, and the passenger must tie the dog to his seat
  • There is no extra charge for the guide dog
  • An airline may take five guide dogs on board at the same time, but for a greater number of applications, the airline will consider the specific conditions of the flight and assess whether it can accommodate all passengers

How to take a guide dog on board

To fly with a guide dog you will need a veterinary passport and a veterinary certificate for travel within Russia and the CIS. Please ask the airport Veterinary Control before checking in to have these documents checked.

Requirements for travelling with a guide dog vary from airport to airport so it is advisable to check the regulations in advance at the airport of departure.
